How not to launch you boat in Broome!
Hi just come back for a great week up in broome. I used to live up there for many years, and it was my first trip back for about 6 years. But one thing never changes..and that it stupid people that do not respect the tides of Broome. Watched this clown back his boat down to the water, get out of his car while left running...sat there for a couple of minutes....put his gear in his boat. Then he pushed his boat off and went to take off....oh no..im bogged!
He then came walking over to me for help..and i said you need a 4wd to pull you out mate. He didnt seem in that much of a hurry until i told him the tide is on its way up mate..if your car is still there in 10 mins it will be gone. He was lucky enough to get a guy to pull him out, and he kept his car. I told him to invest in a tide chart, and to enoy the rest of his day.

I maybe extra cautious but....
I would never consider a beach launch with a 2wd vehicle..... nope been trying hard but simply cant think of a situation when it would occur to me it was a good idea.

LOL
With the size of that trailer/boat he could have just unhitched it and walked it to the water line, pure gold!

not the smartest vehicle to
not the smartest vehicle to launch from the beach with , but if you have to its a case of run in launch and get out fast ,anyone with half a brain would know that. maybe thats the prob , he is driving a commodore so he doesnt even have half a brain. i certainly wouldnt like to be stuck like that, at least someone helped him out

ouch
I hate to admit it but I have sunk a Holden one tonner at the Broome boat ramp a few years ago. Launched there heaps of times no probs , this day my timing was all wrong, got bogged, ten minutes later the water was up to the dash,308 full of salt water, not good. The dudes in the commodore seem to be a bit casual about the whole situation but they certainly wont be the last to lose a car in Broome. It's amazing how quick it goes from , bugger i'm bogged to, shit where's my car gone. It's a bit pointless launching on an incoming tide but most of the time you are retrieving on an incoming tide and the same thing happens.

I have heard over the years
I have heard over the years a lot of local in 4x4 have done the same thing(just left it parked on the beach),,came back at high tide and the 4x4 is gone,,this is where a good echo sounder works wonders ,lol you never know you might catch a mulla next to your car while you are waiting for the tide to go back out

The photo doesn't show it, but the waves would have crashed into his tiny boat if he ended up going out, which he didn't after the whole launching fiasco.

Shit time of year for launching due to the south westerleys but still wouldn't do it in a 2wd doesn't matter what tide. Just shows the fantastic facilities we have to put up with up here
