on 20lb is a super effort, surprising the hooks on the octa wern't destroyed, they are pretty light gauge

Light?
Heavier guage than any of the others on the market and a lot stronger than 20lb braid
Great fish for the young fella.

its funny you say that because one of the hooks were straightened and yes the fish was as big as him

Well done. Must of been fighting that for a while.Would have a good shot at the junior angler for July (if its running in july instead of just june).
Also, did you change the hooks on the octa or leave them as the standard ones?
edit: on 20lb, even better. As for the hooks, i'm more wondering about hooking ability on a fish that size, rather than the strength

They are not the best quality, and You'd be better off replacing with livebait hooks like owners or similar.
Have heard good reports from the jig itself though
he straightened the stanted hooks so i repllaced them with the owner jig assist hooks (2/0)
well that was the first time he used it

Connor, that is a MAGNIFICENT effort for Jake. I caught a 20 kilo one a bit back and I was stuffed and I probably weigh 3 times what Jake does LOL.
If Jake is a member of this site, it would have to be a photo contender for sure!
Well done!!!!

If that kid did it all by himself disregarding line-class, that's amazing and he deserves standing ovation. Just makes me reminiscent.
