 I have the same sounder

Mon, 2008-04-07 20:42

I have the same sounder and find 200khz to work better, have tried 50 with not much luck even with other brands have found the same, I think once you get into the 2kw plus sounders 50khz is better?? Mats sounder is on High with the H top right.

I have the Furuno 585 and ran out wide the other day. Dropped out at around 200mtrs @200khz than switched to 50khz and found bottom out to 400mtrs. Thats running the 1KW transducer and sitting on 8knts trolling. Def worth the money.

yeah jason on high and as jason said yes i find it better to use the 200 out deep, 50 doesnt do alot better, sunday however it was just as good, not like the last time out there, not sure why, when i roomed in on the bottomg 60 or 70 m the picture was alot better too, and yeah it was definately worth the spend even though alot told me it wouldnt be better, but as said remember this is only a 600wt unit running a 1kw tranny, but a very vast improvement

Hype

Tue, 2008-04-08 08:22

Dont always believe the Hype. Thats a 1Kw on a JRC on 200Khz. My Furuno side by side out there cant even see the bottom with the 1Kw on 200Khz. Actually it cant see the bottom in 90m on 200.

using our navman which is only 600w, we cant find bottom using 50khz out wide, but the 200khz finds the bottom in quite good detail.

Will try and get a photo next time i am out Tim. I have no problems finding the bottom with the Furuno on 50khz. As i said you loose bottom at around 170-200mtrs then swith over and no probs.

Have read some good reports

Have read some good reports on the new jrc ff60, I thought it had the 1kw option? I don't know much about electronics but apparently the 600w is very powerful, I'm very happy with the ff50 and would probably look at the ff60 when renewing, the furuno 585 is also a top unit.
