About 15 minutes per leadhead spread over several days (casting, powder coating, painting eyes, araldite binding etc) but I'm a fussy buggar Max.

Northern Species

Mon, 2007-07-02 09:12

Spess, I've had most success on them in Northern waters (upwards from Jurien). Shark mackerel in particular love the small (6/0) version cranked flat out.

Alternately bait them up with a sliver of mackerel or half a mulie and dropped them to the bottom for baldies, rankins, coral trout etc.

They do work in the metro but I've never tried to hard with them down here.

Yeh they're a well finished off lead head firetail jig for home made John, the bling really sets it off and will have plenty of bling shine in the water

I had great success with

I had great success with them up at bromme when i lived there but not much down here. I did try a large one as the sinker wieght off busselton one day but i removed the hook so it wouldnt faul up on the bottom.....but i kept getting this sucking feeling like a dhuie was taking it but then letting it go! I switched to another with a hook and landed by best dhuie so far on the next drift. 4 others were landed later on all on large jig heads! They wouldnt even touch the fresh squid offerings or the lumo tubes. just goes goes to show that they work somedays but not others.Im yet to try them properly off perth.

Do you have any luck on them Ryan?

Keep it tight, reeeeeeel tight!

I have used some large Ones

Mon, 2007-07-02 16:09

I have used some large Ones for a try bottom bouncing out in 40M targeting Dhufish, only used it once as we drifted over a lump, I picked up a sambo so took it off after that.

The one I was using was no were near as impressive as Johns, just red and white.
