Cheers boys. This was on a live herring, running sinker and single hook rig. This was second drop, first drop got smashed after about 5 seconds after the bait reached the bottom but the hook snapped just as we got the fish to the boat, had another hook snap later in the day, definitely wont ever be using Gamakatsu circles again.
Pinned the bait through the lips, lots of fish on the sounder so didnt have to keep it alive very long. When I use livies for salmon and have to wait for the fish I noticed the baits died alot quicker when you pin the through the lips, must pin their mouths shut and suffocates them so usually just pin them behind the head.
Both hooks snapped about 10mm from the point, where it curves sharply back towards the main shaft of the hook. Shit
Same sizes mate. We were running pe6 so maybe it was too much pressure on the hook. From the response ive had on here and on facebook I wont be reccomending to anyone else thats for sure!

Just pin them through the top
Just pin them through the top lip saves the baits dying quick,
Or a small darcron loop through the eyes and bridle rig them baits last a lot longer
Iv had a few of those circles straighten as well I use the heavy duty ones now.
