Manta and cobia
I was out fishing with afew mates, no more than 2-300m offshore whenwe saw a heaps of these manta rays swimming around every were.
My mate through out a line and said he was going to catch on of those
sucker fish that catch a free ride.
So he casted his line a few meters infront of a cobia and let it sink (didnt want to hook a manta ray ), just with a pillchard, and all of a sudden he was onto something more than just a little sucker fish, he was onto a very nice size cobia.
so you could imagine the rest of us trying to get our lines wet.
So that day we ended up with 6 cobia and one sucker fish stuck on the bottom of the boat with my mates hooks still in its mouth.
So if you ever see a manta ray swimming around chuck a line in front and you might hook yourself a cobia.

Manta's
Yep, just gotta make sure you don't hook the manta. Gribbo decided he was going to throw a halco lure at one last year, wasn't so funny when he hooked it in the wing and his poor old penn 850 got the workout of its life. It jumped and dived and headed for the horizon eventually busting him off but not before taking a hell of a lot of line, was quite funny from a spectators point of view. :)
Check out this video from Port Hedland Doro, underwater cities underneath them.
