Monkey Mia Glass-Off

Monkey Mia Glass-Off

At the end of a magic few days up at Monkey Mia a year ago we got these conditions coming back in.  I don't think I'll ever see water as flat as this 'offshore'... it is pretty sheltered in that gulf though I've got to admit but still.

Not uncommon for Shark Bay

Magic conditions!  Not uncommon to get it that flat late in the afternoon in winter in my  experience.  Makes for a great run home.

I remember getting glassed off out from Nanga one day many years ago.  It was the first time I had been in those conditions and I haven't seen it that still since.  It was glass as far as you could see and for hours!  Not even the slightest ripple.  It was actually quite spooky!

It was a memorable session, one I won't forget.  I have had many such conditions at Shark Bay but this was the flattest.  Its good fun coming back in from 30km out @ 40+ knots
