Fresh Water?

Mon, 2006-08-07 22:33

I have always wanted a big mother of a Saltwater tank but I am not sufficiently motivated to do all the upkeep. If I won lotto it would probably be one of the first things put into the design of the new house. Saw an awesome one in a client's house years ago. It separated two rooms and took up an entire wall. It had everything you could think of in it just about.

I could sit there and watch fish for hours, but still prefer catching them.

Cheers

Fresh

Its a freshwater tropical tank with a fair variety of species. Biggest is my featherfin sydonis which I've had for 3 years and purchased for $25, would have to be worth all of $200 now. Also got a few upside catfish, eels and other crazy critters, good fun watching, but require blood worms every night and a bit of maintenance. Not good when you have nights like Friday, they forget to get fed once in a blue moon, but are fine, just a bit hungry the next day.

Yeh, barra spook easy

A mate had barra in a tank and had to keep ph spot or they die easy, also need a lot of cover for them. Not really worth the effort in my opinion, prefer to have other crazy tropical species which are more hardy yet just as funky.

My fish go for 3-4 days without food if need be. They can go for a fair while without getting fed. Got a couple of nice pictus catfish in a mates tank in perth still. Barra can be aggressive too. Love aquariums.
Really want to set up a saltwater tank. Quite difficult I'm led to believe.

You gotta be in it to win it

busso saltwater aint that hard - had mine for about 6 years with no probs, 500litres with a super sized lion fish in it. cute fish as long as you dont try to pat im :P
if you try to keep corals thats when it gets really painful.
anyone interested in buying a saltwater set up can have mine for $1300 - cost over $3000 easy if ya got it new
