My first Chinaman

My first Chinaman

I went out to one of my favourite spots around North West Reef last weekend for a quick fish with the family. On the Second drop my mulie got smashed and I was on tight to something different thats for sure. It was an unusaual bite and its first run was very strong. I was fishing a light jig outfit, PE 2, and whatever I hooked was taking lots of line under a heavy drag and carrying on like Trevally of sorts. Big runs and dogging it out deep for what seemed like ages I finally saw deep colour and a big flash of Red. I kept looking for the shark that I imagined was on this fishes tail but it never appeared and I managed to get it up to the surface. There it was my first Chinaman floundering on the surface and after a quick gaff shot it was done. I never weighed the fish but I did measure it and it went 86cm. I was absolutely stoked as this was my first encounter with a Chinaman and another species to cross off of the list. I have been waiting patiently for a Chinaman and this fish certainly didnt dissapoint.

 Nice fish mate!

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the chinaman fish a known culprit for ciguatera poisoning?
