Is that at Leeman Roberta?
Hopefully some fish will soon start to congregate around those structures.

Yes the old jetties had heaps of
mussels on them and on a clear day you could see blue manner crabs and baby cobbler, on occasions seen heaps of mullet, plenty of blue bait and of course the ruddy blowies, reckon they should have a kids comp and a big prize for who catches the most blowies, on the ASI groyne. Wish it was Leeman Colin for the floating jetties.

cockburn
Drove from Mandurah through Cockburn for the first time in 2 years the other day and was staggered at what is happening there. Definately another Hillaries or Mindarie in the making. The whole project with the marina looks fantastic.

Old fart and me went
for a drive through and around Mandurah and couldn't believe how the city has expanded so much, we hadn't been down that way for about 5 yrs, been through in the truck to Mylop, Mandurah isn't the sleepy little town that old fart knew as a kid, catching heaps of herring, whiting, crabs, skippy etc.

Yes everybody they are going
to be excellent and 6 overnight floating jetty pens as well, then the new roof should be getting started as soon as the weather fines up, new boat trailer line markings also when the weather is a bit kinder as well, the Club House and grounds will look really flash and specky, ha ha ha Just needs a nice bed of roses to top it off, (only joking fellas)
Colin Hay ..... God it would be fantastic if Leeman had them as well, not getting my bum wet (sometimes it comes in handy when you need a pee ha ha) holding the boat while old fart gets the trailer ha ha ha

The new jetties look good
The new jetties look good
Was down there on Tuesday when the were just putting the 2nd jetty into place.
Jim, they probably weren't rock breaking the exisiting ramp pads, just modifying the existing ramp/jetty blocks to allow for the installation of the walkway from land to floating jetty.
The new floating jetties sit a lot lower to the water level and the concrete blocks that linked from the driveway to the old jetty sat too high.
Can't wait till the end of next week...

Hi Roberta
Was speaking with Tony on Tuesday and he mentioned the joining ramps had just arrived at the installers workshop but the modifications to the existing concrete footings had to be undertaken prior to installation.
All should be up and running by next weekend...except for the pen section.
cheers,
Paul

Good one kaney68
Haven't been down since the photo taken, but will go down and have a look either Monday or Tuesday, fingers crossed for the ramps to be open for next week-end wonder who is going to be the first to christen them? They put all the concrete from the jetties into the pads on the ocean flloor, think number 1 jetty (drive on) to help the pad on the ocean floor from collapsing, extra strength maybe No. 2 ramp as well, not sure on that one.

Kaney, Thanks for the
Kaney,
Thanks for the info, yes sounds correct in what you say, I thought that, maybe the ramp angle for the boats was a bit steep, now that the pontoons are being installed.

New CPBA Jetties
Wow we can not wait to use the new jetties and pens.
Some times it was a bit of a jump from jetty to boat and being ropes girl I had my work cut out for me comming back in.
The kids fishing comp is postponed till next month whilst the new jetties are installed and we wait for the weather to ease.
We have not been out in the boat for a couple of months now. The kids have had the charts out dreaming of where the fish are swimming.

Know the feeling being ropes girl
and I'm taller than you blue bone so it must have been a struggle, it sure was for me, when they used to have the tyres on all jetties I used to hook one foot in the tyre and try and crawl up on very low tide ha ha ha, then they got rid of the tyres and put the bullards in, so a few of us old farts with dicky knees and other complaints approached the committee and asked for ladders which Mike Platts (thank you) made and installed for us old farts ha ha ha, now its going to be great, one step out, plus a few of the elderly club members family can get in and out with out much trouble.

Love those floating fingers
A great idea! No issues with extreme tides and your boat level.
Prevents me from dumping my 86 year old mother on the deck again
Who knows, we might get them down here when City of Albany get them selves organised. Yeah right!
Will be great to see it when all completed.

Yes dreamweaver it sure will
be great. Had to laugh at your poor mum but that happened up at Leeman on the sea rescue ramp, Bob got into the boat, started motor, his mate standing on the jetty waiting, undone ropes, mate had one foot on the ramp and the other foot on the boat, next minute boat drifts slightly out and mate falls in, wish I'd had the camera, everything in slow motion, talk about funny, but mate still went fishing looking like a drowned rat.

We had my husbands
We had my husbands grandmother who is in her 80s at the club a few months back it was a bit tricky getting her in and out of the boat. She is very spritely for her age but just having the distance of depth between jetty and boat was a little awkward and she was a bit nervous.
The weather turned a bit more blowy than predicted and in the end we tied off in one of the pens and stayed in the marina. Great Gran had a lovely time. Afternoon tea was served and the kids were kept busy catching little herring and blowies.
We are hoping that the new jetties will make things easier.

Just been down to the Club
(nothing on TV) and yes the concrete has all been taken away, looks like the railings for the walk ways sitting there and more floating jetties sitting in the disabled (parking) bay, can't wait for next week-end. The kids are going to love getting in and out the boat for the kids comp next month, hope the weather gods are kind for them. I've taken more photos, even the pattern on the jetties, nice bollards to tie up to will getting the trailer, just a thought though, might be a bit tricky coming in being the rope girl?

CPBA Jetties
Hi Roberta I have shown Hubby the photo and I too was worried about what I would have to lasoo when we came back to the ramps.
If you look closely at your picture on the back horizontal jetty there are some metal cleats that run along the edge of the jetty. Hubby says this is what we use to tie off to at the jetties. This will be much easier as they will be at the right height for the boat and we should be able to just reach out and loop the rope over.
Not like before when I had to balance on the side of the boat and leap onto the jetty to tie off.

Yes Bluebone saw them
just from a distance they looked a bit ifffy. Now we just have to (to me) bend over and it'll be good, no more miss and reverse back up ha ha ha (I missed all the time old fart ^%$#@ all the time) I've taken a photo of the cleats (called them bollards) just put them up for you to see, don't know if these are for the floating launch/retrieve ramps or the overnight cleats/bollards?

CPBA Membership
Guy's I know this is a bit off the thread but just wondering if the wait for the club membership is still a decent wait? I've been wanting to join for quite some time, do you still need to have someone nominate you, if so would any of you be interested?
Thanks in advance.

Just to add what bluebone family
has said, there are about 20 vacancies at the moment, so if you are quick Lui_F you may be in before Xmas, that was at last Tuesday Committee Meeting, yes you do have to be nominated but if you go down on a Sunday (Bar is open and side gate) you can fill out the membership form and somebody either on the bar or members having a drink will sign the nomination form for you. Hope that helps. Roberta

CPBA membership
Yes there is a bit of a wait it took us over 12mths to get in. We had to be nominated by two members who knew us. Give the Club Manager Hazel Duggan a call during the week on 94185868. Some of the other members on here may be able to add some info.
It is definately worth the wait to become a member. We can launch our boat easily and the Bosum Tony is very helpful. Our car and trailer are parked as securely as possible while we are out which means over nighters at Rottnest and Garden Island are now possible.
There are always club events happening and they also have the sport fishing group and dive group. We have met some great people at the CPBA who enjoy boating and fishing as much as we do.
