Prefer the 60-70cm size fish myself for the table. I usually release most rankins in the bigger sizes as I find the fillets can become a bit sinewy, a bit like big longnose emperor.

how deep were you to spear the rankin or is that a gaff shot?

any reds or just sea perch?

Sea perch in this lot, one rankin was speared in 15m, along with the bluey and trout came from 5m.  Rest was caught on line.

Agree BJ, not many days you miss them if bottom bouncing.

Nice catch Adam. I would rate rankin better than dhuy. Can,t beat fresh rankin wings on the bbq. Hopefully will get into a few next week.
