Just off the back of Gardin Island, between the 5 fth bank and the island, ran it 6 or 7 of those big "breeding masses, hooked over 35 just kept our quota of 6. A couple we released had tags but they were not able to read the data on them....... Pitty!!

Just 3 of us fishing, hooked over 25 released all except 6.

Had a couple of 6'0 hooks straightened as well. There were some  big pinky busses around! Good fun was had by all! Would have been great if we had a tagging kit.

Breeding time!

Tue, 2010-02-09 12:52

We must of seen at least 10 breeding masses, these fish we hooked up on must have been the straddlers....All the way from the Navy jetty all aroung the back of Gardin Island. No other boats in the area except us.  It was very strange that they were massing on both side of the Island. Something I will never forget!! Would have loved to take a dive and take some pictures, but too many sharks about, every 10min a huge explosion of fish scattering and then calm again.
