Rockingham then and now

Rockingham then and now

First I would like to thank Duncan Dodd and Allan Godley ( Allan from Droneworks ) for allowing me to use there photos.

the photos show the changes of Rockingham over 30 odd years.

I have always said that the causeway to Garden Island will affect and degrade the sound.

In the 1970s photo you can see the drop off and how deep it is compared with the 2017 photo.

Which was laid by Malibu ......I helped with a little of it .....what has changed is the disappearance of pencil urchins, giant snails and the appearance of lion fish

I learn't to swim at the old Rocky jetty, great times!

There's talk of re-building another jetty at the same spot in the future-all to do with the Rockingham Foreshore Master plan, which begins this year.

ABOUT THE PROJECTAn upgrade to 4km of Rockingham's high quality coastline

The City of Rockingham has a resource unique in Perth – a north facing beach. The beach remains sheltered from the strong sea breezes that are common throughout summer and provides an attractive and protected swimming area. This beach is backed by a large area of parkland with an extensive stand of tuart trees.

The Rockingham Beach Foreshore Master Plan addresses development along 4km of coastline. This development will retain the best aspects of the existing natural and built features, while upgrading the remaining areas. The upgrade will make Rockingham Beach a destination of choice for residents, visitors to Rockingham, and people throughout Western Australia. The central area will become pedestrian friendly, seamlessly integrating retail and culinary outlets with the parks and beach. The introduction of new and diverse event spaces, together with high quality design will make this a space for all ages and abilities to come together and interact.

Rocky foreshore artists impression

Thu, 2018-01-25 23:25

Notice how in these 'artists impressions' pictures there are never any fatties ?

But in real life they are wobbling and sweating around every fucking where.
