Andy as with all of the sailfish we got on the trip, they really do like to put on an arial show. It was common place over the week to see fish not necessarily hooked, tail walk along the surface for 100 plus meters. We had a few jump clean out of the water inside 25 meters of the boat while eating breakfast a couple of times.
Streetfighter I dont know how much this fish weighed and I may not even be in the ballpark, but about 60 KG's. What do you think??
Jay this place is certainly one you will not forget for fishing. Its not the place you get to go every day so remember that when it comes to looking at the prices. I will send you a message with the price that I payed.
I hope to return but unfortunately as of next year and onwards the lagoons will be off limits to fishing. I did not get any great fishing sessions in the lagoons this trip but some of the other fellows really got into it catching really good coral trout and heaps of other stuff. You will certainly see some awesome fish in amoungst them though.
I did not have a vidoe camera myself. Bugger!!
60kg sounds like quite a modest estimation Dewy. We got a 40kg one while live baiting for mackies at coral bay and it was much smaller than yours.
It's a shame they gotta close the lagoons to fishing. I don't see why they can't leave one of them open? Or have strict bag limits or even C&R only. I for one wouldn't be interested in keeping anything. I don't think it would be too hard to impose either since it's not like any jo blo can rock up for a fish in their tinny.

Crikey Dewey that's a huge Sailfish
Congrats on that one, would have been a pleasure to see that thing tail walking over to the boat. Any video footage?
Cheers
