Only action we saw

Sun, 2009-10-18 16:40

was a school of buff bream in the shallows (black spot from the seaweed) looked like they where schooling for some reason as more swam up and joined in.  Thought I'd try and hook one, sure did the reel screamed off but I got busted off as I was only using 5lb line for whiting.  Caught one ruddy whiting and not even a blowie, tide was falling so not much beach or fish for that matter.  It was blowing a nice easterly when we left the Caravan Park but ruddy hell as soon as I set myself up the southerly came in, so goodbye to the oil streak.

So after 24 days in Leeman, the boat didn't get wet and by roughly 10.00am every morning the southerly roared in.  Some ventured out for 3-4 days in a row but only could get 1 or two dhuies.  Tide was out most of the days and swell, sure were sitting up on the reefs.  Had some water to come into but by afternoon on the town ramp no water.  Sea rescue ramp wasn't too bad, most launched from there.

Roberta that pic looks

Thu, 2009-11-05 21:29

Roberta that pic looks lovely.  Shame about the weather while you were away.  It is really frustrating when you just want to go for a fish but the conditions are not right.  This winter seemed to be like that for us.  Usually there is a lull between the fronts but that did not seem to come together for us this year.  Lets hope that summer is better.  However I am sure that the easterly will roar in to give us the whoops.  Heres hoping for some good boating soonSmile

for the summer weather, yes even though I didn't get any fish on the beach, the buff bream sure made it interesting to watch them, swim around and around.  The water was very clear, but couldn't cast out even with a float as the weed beds would have hooked up, plenty of herring in the weed beds, have caught lovely little flathead, even a big blue crab, brought it right up to the beach and the bugger must taken one look at me and off he went, Bob didn't believe me as he'd taken the little dog for a walk (he doesn't like beach fishing), but it was nice and relaxing to watch nature and the dinghy's with a couple of people on boaard,  out further catching what ever
