Using a scalies colin, but when i gutted him he had a couple of small tailor n a heap of whitebait..ill set down a tailor next time!
felt really bad keeping him but what can u do, he was all but dead when they hit the surface from 20m, they go pretty bloody hard...none will go to waste thats for sure!
it is my biggest mulloway mate but not my first..ive landed half a dozen or so...got a few around the 6-7kg mark and a couple of soapies but hes the biggest!
yeh mate was pretty bloody tired n hungover in this pic lol..didnt sleep all night
man i didnt sleep al night either..... i was dozing off in the passenger seat in the car. i slept 14 hours on sunday and i so tired when i woke up....had to go to school!
How long was the fight? Are you going to keep the two little bones inside the head?
Caught one either last year or the year before that on swanfish night, didn't even know it was on until these two guys who was in it told me. Wouldn't of taken out the prize anyway as was told that there was one mulloway at 16kg, mine bottom out on the scales at 10kg that belong to these two guys.
Plenty more too come and very suprise that it was on a full moon, well guest you proven to people that even on a full moon you can still catch one :), guess this spot will be kept quiet....:)
Its meant to be good for mulloway on a full moon, thats why we stayed the night!
fight was 5mins or so...1st run was a screamer then i think that buggered him..did another good run then just massive head shakes in typical fashion of a mulloway!
there were 3 others landed so full moon must be orite..dont quote me on that theory though!
yeh matt, can get pretty boring waiting n waiting but once u hook up its on like donkey kongs..plenty of beer is consumed while waiting which is alway a positive
yea..i would have been sleeping my way through the weigh in if i were u...haha...haven't been out on a boat b4...so theres nothing else to ask u about...haha...just really proud that a fishwrecked member caught a mulla ..
the more u fish..the less stress u get....
yeah well even the postive side can be fun, might have to do a night trip and try and get myself one of them i think sam, how long they going to run for in the swan?
yeh its always a good night no matter what!...they should be around for the next couple of months..just pick a couple of days in a row with warm weather and a full moon (always have had runs on full moons) and 2 hrs b4 and 2 hrs after high tide u should be in for a shot! theres always plenty of tailor to keep u satisfied
snell 2 7/0 gama occy hooks, with a size 0 or 00 ball sinkers (pretty small), 60lb leader and a scalie or fillet of tailor..cut the tail off so it doesnt spin in the current! half hitch around the end..
