That saratoga is awesome! you should get a pool, fill it up with suitable water and start a family of saratoga, for which you will be able to cast lures at!

they are fairly aggresive

Mon, 2010-05-10 20:37

they are fairly aggresive fish, he's my fish and im scared of putting my hand in the tank, a bloke i knew in karratha tim barlow converted his swimming pool into a "barra tank" last i heard he had a couple in the 20kg range (barra that is) problem with having a tank with that much water in perth is heating it, toges (my fish) is in a 6x4ft tank and he has no problem turning around, but they do grow quite large, so ill have to find a new home for him soon, maybe the zoo will take him, but i really dont want him in the croc encloser.

Great fish I've got one in

Great fish I've got one in my tank too I've only had him since August last year and can probably only keep him for another 6-8 months as he too will outgrow my tank. I've got a few Catties and a pair of south american cichlids in with him which he doesn't bother. Will definitely get another I reckon.

Nice Saratoga

Jardini??

Unfortunately the zoo won't take him for quarantine reasons, I tried to get them to take a 3kg barra I grew. In the end Aqua down at Hillaries took him off my hands. I don't know what ever happened to him but it's better than some spannerhead putting him in a smaller tank than what I had.

yeh thats wat i have been

yeh thats wat i have been told, however a good mate of mine can quarantine him for me as he does most of their fish there at the zoo, and yeh jardini STEVE231, still has both whiskers aswell, i origanally had a couple barra until some tool turned the power off to my tank, not happy.

madfisher, are all the fish the same size? in your tank that is, coz once he decides he the dominant 1 the others are history, i had a huge aglae eater in with him and he was malled by toges once he decided he was the dominant 1, they have amazing colours hey. especially when they light up. blues pinks greens, awesome species
