Saturday 80 mETERS

Did any of you guys get out Yesterday?  Water was flat as, saw plenty of boats out but not many reports in.  We got a few queenies, foxfish and heaps of the orange/red buggers with spikes on the back.  Anyone know what these are or if they are any good to eat?  Got a spike in my hand from one and was in a little pain for about 3 hours, not a great experiance.

Gurnard stings

If you don't have hot water close at hand piss on the sting site. When using hot water have it as hot as you can bear it.The heat breaks down the toxins in the sting venom.

Same goes for cobbler and the like

Carnarvonite is right on the money. The hot water breaks down the protien of the sting. As for pissing on it I don't know I'd be going with viniger. At all cost don't use ice as it will keep the venom localized and prolong the pain. Hot water is the go.

we also have vinegar (brown) in the boat/4x4 the vinegar worked a treat on the blue bottle sting last year, Bob was pulling in the sea anchor and the little darling had wrapped itself around the rope, out came the vinegar, washed hands, rope etc all done.  but he put gloves on for the rest of the time we were fishing.

Hey all

Hot water straight from the tell tail of the motor at idle works a treat if you can't get it from anywhere else.
