Nah , different animals , its nit picking really but the true shovelnose has a transparent nose and no bottom lobe on the tail.They grow to roughly the same size , Ive seen them at around 3 mtr , the shovelnose is also a bit lighter in build and dont have the brute power of the guitar fish .
he tasted delicious. one of the best shark i have ever tried in my life. got him on schecky's opus bull with 30lb braid. we got a good 15-20kg of meat off him. fed us for a long time. even had to give away some of it becase there was so much of it. it was good fun and my best landbased capture
