Strange Catch

Thought I would show everyone what we got a couple weeks ago in jurien, safely released nice and healthy(I have the video). We were trolling around for a Mackie or a smabo or for anything really but I never thought a Dhui would smash the lure. Really surprised how much line it pulled for a Dhui, was in shallow water so I'm guessing that's why it pulled so hard!

Absolutely no reason why they wouldn't
Get a fairly slow trolled deep diver down towards where they live, and I'm sure they'll smash it. They often sit 2 or 3 metres ( or more) above the bottom watching for a feed to come along. This is on my bucket list, shame it had to come for you during the ban. I've seen quite a few pinkies caught up our way over the years by people trolling for mackerel in 20 metres of water.

Definitely wasn't expecting it. To be honest though it was kind of nice putting the big girl back. Hopefully a bit of fish karma for next month !

I Seriously have never even thought to troll for a Dhui, but now I can't wait to get back out and try it again !!! That one wasn't 14kg but I can imagine how fun one that big would be in the shallows!

Mate of mine caught a 16kg
Mate of mine caught a 16kg Dhuie last year in 8m of water using a Halco Laser Pro. Had just checked his cray pots and thought he'd troll for a Mackie on his way out to bottomn bash lol. Shame you couldn't keep him mate.
