Taylor Beach Leeman

Taylor Beach Leeman

This is Taylor Beach looking north, apparently the word was the area was catching well at sunrise and late in the afternoon.  We think this is the beach which you can't drive on as its pure silicon sand

Taylor Bay

Sun, 2010-05-02 12:12

That brings back a few memories Roberta.  I and a few families from York used to have shacks at little bit to the south of that bay.  Those were the days alright.  I've pulled many a tailor and a few mulloway off that beach.  All shacks had to be removed around the mid 90s for memory.

Weed

Mon, 2010-05-03 16:42

The weed can certainly be a problem at times Colin.  I've seen it piled up a metre or so high on the beach.  We used to run a few nets at times but the weed sometimes made that impossible.  Great when there is no weed tho.  We found the best months for mulloway were Aug to October and fish at dusk into early evening.  Never seemed to get much after 9pm and I've put in quite a few all nighters there.  Take warm clothing brrrrr.

Yes Alan,

had friends that had shack at Nobby Head, memories that can never be taken away.

Colin,  the weed wasn't to bad on the other beaches were we fished (posted some photos)  But for this time of year the weed was pretty bad. Winter time on the two boat ramps can be very high.  Good beach fishing in the summer time, nobody on the beach just yourself and a couple of friends heheheh, most tracks north of Leeman need a 4x4 to  get to the beaches.

Removal of the Shacks

Tue, 2010-05-04 12:13

Did the removal of all the shacks have much of an impact on Leeman business's Roberta?  I'm sure I would have spent 3 or 4 grand a year in Leeman when the shack was there.  Haven't been to Leeman since its removal.

No I don't think

so, as it seems to be getting busier especially in the Caravan Park where we have our on-site van, Easter was packed (didn't go up)  school holidays also.  But the mine has shut down at Eneabba, think that will make more of a impact on the town.  Heard a few blokes talking at Seaside, have you got your redunancy yet.  Also they are closing down years 11 & 12 at the High School in Jurien Bay, think also that will have a impact on families in Leeman, Greenhead and Jurien, new road should be open in September, might help the three towns, as far as tourists and grey nomads travelling north for the winter.  Lots of houses up for sale, haven't sold in the last 3yrs asking far to much and now the mine has shut could be some cheap buys in Leeman.
