Warming up the washers on the bream gear
Submitted by flangies on Sun, 2011-07-31 22:48

This mack took an Ofmer Xminnow fast ripped through the wash. Certainly went hard on 6lb. Took over half the spool of line in a single run which made my poor stradic sing.
Lost a good spaniard at the rocks later that morning 12-15kg

I think it was around 10
I think it was around 10 minutes to land, they die in the ass pretty quickly.
Japanese Ares Maverick ML (8 foot seabass stick around the sub $600 but i got it for free in squid comp) it is a beatiful stick and really gets those light lures a fair distance. The Xminnow is one of the best lures I have ever casted, outcasts a crystal minnow 2-1.

Fair effort Flangies!
Mate have a look at the Rapala Max-Raps for a long caster, i love my crystal Minnows as well but they don't cast for poop!!
I reckon i'd be smiling if i caught a fish like that!!!

Haha yeah got some smiling
Haha yeah got some smiling photos too. I was really shocked to land it since you don't really have much room for error in regards to landing/gaffing the fish as well as that nasty set of chompers. I'll definitely take a look at those maxraps as I love rapala xraps and even hooked a spanish first cast on the xr6. It was a tough day, use wire and get no Hookups or use mono and get snipped off. I am trying to upload a video of Jono demonstrating how easy it was to get some decent 45-60cm trevally from garths rock. It was fish a cast for a couple of hours. Plastics, jigs, minnows, marabous and slices. It didn't matter, they just smashed it!
