Just had the boat down this morning for a few more trial runs. Firstly, watched a Hercules come down from the North and drop a few parachutists into the water off the harbour. Then, low and behold, I am just going up to get the trailer when I am invaded by an Army rib I think, dropping off some wet soldiers!
On a boating note, had to get a larger winch as the other one couldn't pull the boat up with the motor. Managed to find one in Gumtree for a song and at least the first time worked a treat. Bit slow, but still very strong.
Weather permitting, the top of the tank goes in this weekend. Got a aluminium flange for the pickup and filler pipe made by a workshop in Wangara and will fit that whence the tank is complete.

Last night
We took a group of scouts out on the rescue boat at 6.30 last night and they were there then. Dropping them just on dark, great to watch and the scouts loved it.
Kirby marine built one of the SAS Ribs and i got to ride it back from Mandurah to Woodman point. Got up to 55knots accross Cockburn sound and was advised could go higher. What a buzz!!!!

By the way, the council or whoever, are dredging the mouth of Ocean Reef b/h. Then they were dumping the silt on the sandhill beside the boat ramp.

Ocean reef
I have just made Ocean reef my local ramp after moving from SOR, are there any fish around the area these days I fished out of here for a few years and had no decent catches, had to travel to two rocks for any chance of a feed.
Due west out in the 50 - 80 meters any good?
or do i just keep to two rocks & lanclin & ledge?
