Handlines
Yep, I spent all my junior years fishing with a handline. Still reckon I'd catch more on a handline than a rod when bream fishing.
We used to deepsea fish with hand ropes, first offshore fish I ever caught was a double header, 40 pound dhuie and a 32 pound snapper off Banskia Camp near Walpole. I was about 7, hooked them, held on for about 2 minutes then had the old man bring them up to the shock of the crew on the pro boat we were on. Was a golden day, I then proceeded to get sea sick and sunburnt and was curled up for 3 days and missed Chrisse and Boxing Day. :S

i still use one now for get
i still use one now to get a few squid! There heaps easier to get them in without tearing the leg off and the angles sweet when landing them so you dont get inked! The rod gets in the way and i hate putting my rods down to get scratched and stuff. Pretty effective.
