I got me an exhaust jack for such situations. Only used it once when I accidentally reversed over a dip in a sand dune and my car was see-sawing on the chassis.
Just stuffed it under the car blew it up and put sand back under the wheels.

Sneeking off again. I'm suprised you didn't ring me albeit it would have been even more embarassing to have a Land Rover recover you. Colin mate.... It's time we got your Hilux back on the road before this bloke tries to drive to South Africa LOL.

Always count on the nissan
Always count on the nissan .You want to grab a set of Maxtrax and Tyres 8-9 PSI and out in about 15 mins with minimal digging . Happen to me once at Wilbinga and took me 3 hours to dig out by myself , went out next day and bought some Maxtrax's.
just dhu it

backtracks
might be time to stay on the back tracks and walk the last 100mts , or maybe buy a winch ?. beats watching TV
throw out the standard rims and put some 10inch rims and some fat herbies on your rig suited for the sand

Been there done that
Awfull feeling!! I agree with the tracks. I have them for sand and mine is only about 2 feet long, but it gives the car momentum and usually out she pops. The spare burried in the sand attached to a winch is also what I might have to learn in the future.
Now I am so scared of wet shit I never drive over it and stick to the sundried stuff, just incase off the tide situation. But it doesnt look like you had much choice there.
Neels
LOL at myself aswell. Last time I was bogged was in Mud at the next bay on the Burrup near Withnell bay exploring. I looked like a belonged up here after digging it out and then block and tackle shull dragged it out.
