Yellowfin Whiting on popper

I just returned from hols on the East Coast where I had my first crack at small scale popping in the river at Port Macquarie. In my one and only session I got almost spooled then snapped off by what I suspect was a big bream, then landed this Whiting. Lots of strikes but not many hook-ups, just such an exciting way to fish!

stradic 1000, only maybe 3/4
stradic 1000, only maybe 3/4 full with 6lb mono. After seeing it strike about 3m away, catching hundreds growing up there, and considering the Yellowfin Bream get quite big around the oyster leases in the Hastings River, i'm quite confident that is exactly what is was. Cheers.
