Young Bloke's Snapper

Another pic from our Jurien trip last week...was 82cm and caught about one kilometre from the marina. Probably used one whole litre of petrol to get there and back!
This was Connor's biggest ever snapper (and I think bigger than any I've caught) but he knows the importance of brood stock fish and was quite happy to carefully put it back into the water and watch it swim away. Paid off for him later in the holiday when he caught a 13 kg dhufish!

Its nice to see them go back, sometimes I'd like to see the big dhuie's go back but unfortunately no most of the time, looks like you all had a good day out

Pink
Nice fishing there Auslobster. Congrats to the young fella for releasing it.
Were you intentionally fishing for pinks there or was it a lucky bonus?

Targetting Snapper
Jurien Bay is noted for small lumps/broken ground which attract the pinkies when the swell is up. If you're out there at first or last light, anchored up with a MODERATE amount of berley, you're in with a chance for any size fish; from 25cm "squires" right up to 10 kg+ "knobheads".
The two nights we got onto them also featured a healthy showing of pike (or snook?) and the filets off these were as good a bait as any.
