i personally went out only once, and was a waste of my time and money.... they went out in far less than favourable conditions... and from memory we caught approx 8-10 fish ( small snapper ) between 16 or so....

i would think you guys would have far better results going out on some of the members boats, when they post up looking for a deckie!!! much cheaper, and more fun

just my views, and i am sure there may be some who have had great days out with them... though i havent heard any good reports... there arte better charter operators imo...

I would try and go during the week. I have seen their charters heading out on the weekends recently and they seem pretty packed.

probably need to discuss what gear you need with the skipper of any boat you go out on. It will depend on where they are fishing and what they are fishing for.

I'm no expert, but you don't want to be hanging a 12' rod out on a charter boat. As Colin (1) said - you need to chat with whatever charter you choose and see if they have suitable (and decent) gear. If you plan to make boat charters a regular occurance then that might justify getting some basic gear. An overhead is not essential, though some prefer them - some don't. A suitable rod is.

Yeah apparently mills charters use alveys and penn rods for 'versatility'

you would need to go to tworocks to be worth it,if you want fish that is.

or get the ferry to rotto and fish aroud there and you will still catch more than there charters,they didnt get manty fish 10 years ago so they would be a waist of money now.

You might be better off heading to north mole on Friday. You have the right gear and there will be a bit of a windy day with a bit of a well on Thursday which might bring the good fish in close. That is where I would be going. The money you would save would buy you some offshore gear - and as Dennis said - you will probably catch more fish.

Live baiting my personal favourite, Lures being the least :p still got a load of lures tho.

I have Rovex Big boss 7500 spooled with 30lb Cajun braid. (about 300m total) This goes on my Ugly stick 10-12kg

Penn enforcer 777 spooled with 200m 30lb braid with 150m-200m 30lb backing.

Mate has Penn powerspin 8000 random amount of 30lb mono.

As far as Perth goes, North Mole is probably one of the easier manmade places to fish. It is a large structure, so you have quite a few options. The most popular spot is near the lighthouse and you can catch a wide range of fish from garfish through to tuna. At this time of the year most anglers chase snapper, salmon and bonito.
Live baiting is ideal if you want to chase snapper, which tend to come in more regularly after a big blow.
Your gear should be fine. The ugly stick wiht the Rovex should handle the snapper. The flick rods would be finew for most of the other fish.
If the wind is blowing hard, you can fish on the northern side of the wall near the lighthouse. Another option is the northern wall you see when you first head onto the mole. Near the shop/canteen is a popular spot there.

Mill's Charter do produce fish but their grounds do get alot of pressure these days hense why they go deeper & deeper and it can be hit-n-miss. The gear supplied doesnt offer feel & line sensativity so take your own. The Rovex Big boss 7500 spooled with 30lb Cajun braid. (about 300m total) & Ugly stick 10-12kg you have will do the job. The key is to use shop bait ie take your own ocky & california squid, also get them to add on another sinker if you're not holding bottom.

If a Charter boat produces it's worth $400 for two people!

California squid in boxes at good tackle stores.(Colin 1 - Co-founding member of the prestigious Colin Club)

California squid is white in colour and the quality is awesome. You can use them on a gang hook ie whole or cut up for bait!

I always use the B2 lumo squid SP on top of my hooks as an attractor!
