Hey mate just wondering why you repowered? Age of motor or was it clapped out? Mine's twenty years old now, hasn't done major hours DF90. Just wondering what would be considered old.
The previous motor was a 94 Merc Black Max 135 Sea-Kem. Starting to have too many issues, although they are almost unbreakable. So decided was finally time to go the 4 stroke.
Hey Andrew, you probably already know but just be aware that those Suzis 90-140 are very prone to corrosion in the engine holder and sump regions. Repairable either by TIG or even Devcon but its a real issue.
I did an article on it here a few years back and thought it was only up to about 2008 or so but my good mate with 2 x DF115 2014 recently found BOTH his had corrosion holes in the sump section.
The engines themselves are perfect, so out with the Devcon.
He is absolutely anal about flushing, anodes etc
The Suzi engineering itself is fantastic but they just couldn't seem to get the internal corrsion sorted in that critical area of acidic exhaust, seawater and heat
Hi Rob, Thansk for that. I had heard that from another source. I'm very pedantic with flushing etc but will keep an eye on the sump.
I did have those metal exhaust plugs replaced basicilly after your post that time.
The other item i have to replace is the steering pivot arm , the Y shaped arm that goes down to the leg. Theres a spline on there with a C clip and it's rusted off, I've spoken to few boat mechs about replacing
but they drew crusafixes at me and not interested.
So I did my own homework and found a guy on the Hull truth who did it himself with a pic by pic stage and pointing out the things to watch for along the way. He reckons a 6 hr job.

Have just been doing the same looking for repower from over east coz there's very little in WA.
General consensus i got was between 500 and 1000 bux, if you buying through a business that regularly ships it can be even cheaper.

Managed to find a decent Merc 150 here so all sorted.
There's a 2022 140 Suzuki on marketplace for $17k currently if that's the sort of thing you are looking for?

Give a man a mask, and he'll show you his true face...
The older you get the more you realize that no one has a f++king clue what they're doing.
Everyone's just winging it.

I'm looking at selling a pretty much brand new Yamaha 130 if anyone is interested. It's only been on the boat a couple of months. Done 40 hours.
Decided I need more HP on a new boat.
