Thank god you told us
I was planning to go flathead hunting after work this week.
I have a great Tarwhine spot. Do they get counted as bream?

Sounds like fun!
Its going to be absolute ball I think. One of the better comps I've seen raised, top stuff Brenz. Would you need to show weight and size in the picture or just you, the fish and the 2lb line?

I reckon.
All fish should be pictured on a "brag mat" or some other measuring device, promote C&R and forget kilograms.
Longest fish wins regardless of weight, that's how most of these comps work on other forums I've been involved with.
Just my 2c worth.

Brag mat photo is the only
Brag mat photo is the only way to go. If you keep it a braggin rights only contest, no prizes, then there is no issue with presenting fish and line for checking.
As for black bream, not a target species for me im afraid. I whouldn't even know where to start.
I have seen some nice ones swimming arround rocks here at work but I aint allowed to fish

fork length
Measure fork length instead of total length, much more accurate as well. Bugger weight off.

Example for an entry.
Heres how I reckon fish should be entered.
eg. Murray Cod, 80ish cm
Estimated weight at around 15kg.
Date 00/oo/07
Location. Lake Tugeranong, ACT.
Fish released.

A size limit sticker would
A size limit sticker would be an easy one as it has 1cm spacings, and for bream, the difference is in the cms.

also have 1cm spacings, actually they have 1mm spacings so suit competitions like this to a tee.

Cant see them in the pictures, so i'm guessing they're in the white section and just got washed out?
I'm guessing that any form of measurement would be fine. I think I'll use a 30cm ruler as I'm not going to get a bream over that for a while, hehe.
(nice cod btw)

The first entry
29cm, caught at Mindarie, 16/7/2008 on 2lb Crystal Fireline, Stradic 2500 Fi and 2-4 kg Berkley Dropshot.

This should spur the bream fishers to get into action and leave me in their dust.

Nah, I've always believed in being a good and fair sport (except when I play scrabble with the wife LOL - and thats THE SCRABBLE BOARD GAME guy's - nothing else LOL).
So, by all means give it a go.
May the best man win. Or maybe the already have. Or maybe I'm just biased.
