they do work well. best type is paddle tail for jerk baits i find. depending on the situation either rig them on a jighead or texis rig them. texis rig best for throwing deep into snags
best advice to you; fish as light as possible.
those classic's are one of the best lures and the halco skin deep (looking at pic) are good also. the nilsan are great for shallow water espaecailly threadies..
up here in NT all the boys have a few paddle tails and Storm soft-baits. Last three barra by my boys here all came on softies and one last month on a Reidies little lucifer

Are you trolling or casting, if casting might need a couple of deep divers to get down to the fish. Dont' to stop and pause the retrieve now and then. You have two stalwarts there might want to add a spearhead an oldie but a goody and also the ledgendry Gold bomber. Try the soft plastics and don't give up on them they are really usefull in tight cover.
