Kwinana Herring
Rock up at the Kwinana beach for a fish tonight up near the jettie, took the family with me this time round, not alot happing for a while, Tailor were the first to come on the bite but with only a hand full caught, all Tailor were under size but one and it was just size made the 30cm mark on my fishing pole, landed 19 Herring and 5 Tailor between all of us, Jasmine been the one that landed the most tonight.
Baits were strips of gardie for the Tailor, cut up peaces of mulie for the Herring, and a oily burley mix, float #3 with the hole in the center to put burley, long leader to a wide gap hook #8, baits were getting smashed at 8 feet away from the shore line.
It was a good night for us, hope you had a good fishing session.
Hoping and will do soak these yellow tails I got tonight

Nice Work
Good stuff there TT, those choppers are still a lot of fun even if they are undersize. And a good feed of herring to boot. Did you fish the grain terminal side of the jetty? A lot of small flathead lurk around there.

Sometimes the Tailor have no
Sometimes the Tailor have no chance of competing against herring around this way but thats ok herring taste much better in my book.
Last week in the kayak i hooked 4 herring and all got off just as i was about to put them in the yak,, they seem to be the masters at throwing the hook,,lol
OH and the bit about catching herring 8 feet from the shore, i hooked a tailor last week in ankle deep water as i was about to cast out again, lol,,,my neices that can only cast a few feet hook as many as the master casters.

have seen the same thing over and over, catches be caught right near the edge of the shore line, when I was a Point Peron the other night, Herring were biting right at the shore line with in 6 feet away, they must be coming in to look for a feed.

Yes and being on a rising tide looking for worms and stuff maybe.
As a small boy in busselton i was next to a lady handlining from the beach for whiting, she was catching heaps to my none,,i was throwing out about 10 ft she was throwing maybe 5,,i started throwing half the distance and started catching them.
I fish of the local beaches with a 6-7 foot rod,,cant get the distance like the others but still get the same amount of fish but.

No Luck
Was a mint night to be down there, minimal wind and nice temperature, but no luck on the herring front. A few nibbles here and there, but that's about it.
There were bloody rays everywhere though. Must have been 6 or 7 caught along that beach within about 3 hours.
So no fish, but that's fishing sometimes haha
