I think that may be a fair entrant, lots of quality already for October. Only thing letting the pic down is some fill flash to light it up, other than that, its a bloody ripper!
yep the old queen snapper sure do go hard. I also don't know what the go is with people saying they aren't much good to chew in, I reckon they're great as long as you trim out the dark patch in the fillet.
great fish mate, also agree that the old queen snapper is much underated.i always keep them and reckon they are pretty good on the tooth, also they sometimes have cowrie(spelling?) shells in their stomachs which fetch a pretty penny if youre lucky to come across them
Didn't even think they got near that size. And the pink cheeks just blows me away. This IS the FOTM IMO and for all the fish I have seen the POTY ( now that does have a funny ring and perhaps we will have to have a "POTY" price for the best of the year.
"Size The queen snapper record is 11.36 kilos – an absolute thumper. But a good fish is four or five kilos, and a queenie of around three kilos is a nice keeper. These days larger fish tend to be found in deeper water, partly due to fishing pressure"
I know someone posted the record above but I am certain from a fisho's eyes that has got to be bigger mate.
Solid awesome fish and I must have missed the earlier posting.
Weldone and IMO you have the new 'uncertified" record for sure.

Look not exactly sure on the length but it was about 250mm bigger than the fishing regulation sticker and that goes up to 900mm.

There's nothing wrong with a bit a queen snapper to chew on. Don't even bother to trim the red stripe off because it doesn't change the taste one bit.
Thats a real hooter queenie, I haven't seen one that big before.
