Sorry Holth, couldn't resist, can't offer an opinion on chrystal blues, never having used one, but from all reports, for what ya pay, they are more than serviceable...

jigmaster....
...still gotta get in to see the boyz to pick mine up....(it is still on hold right Ryan....?), haven't fired one up in anger m'self yet Paul, but from all reports, they're pretty darn good, although prolly a bit more exxy than what you've suggested you want it for. I think FWA(My good friend..... :-0 ) got one from Ryan, and fired his up last week, been waiting for his report.
Again, for what you pay for 'em, from what i understand the chrystal blues are good kit. But then, a hundred different fisho's are gonna offer a hundred different opinions, which is why i rarely join in on tackle discussions/debates. Maybe Monseigneur Cherry can offer some good advice, he seems to be somewhat of a tackle guru, they even gave him his own forum else where....hehehehehe

Dr Cherry (tackle guruologist)
Haven't had a laugh like that in ages Deefa. Chezza and Jimbo were playing very nicely last night.
All in good fun.
I agree on the tackle debates, I try and stay clear, not for any other reason other than I am nowhere near as knowledgeable as the other guys. I worry that if I say something off the cuff I will be shot down and discovered for the ignorant and unedumacated fellow that I am. (Hehehe)
Welcome Paul, hope you enjoy the site.
Cheers

Thats what Im here for
Exactly what I don't want to hear Andy. This site is for people to express their opinions without fear of being shot down. Sure some people may be more knowledge, but that doesn't give them the right to chop you up. All opinions are welcomed, all I ask is that they are kept constructive so that we all can become more informed.
And welcome to fishwrecked Paul.
Cheers,
Adam

i hear ya Andy
A bit of light hearted banter between grown boyz is all part of the fun.....
And yeah, there is some guys here and other sites that are veritable tackle encyclopedia's, unbelievable amounts of tackle knowledge. So i'm with ya there too, don't wanna be saying the wrong thing in this crowd, you'd soon get found out.
So Holth, hang in there, after you sift through the shit that posters like me and others put up, you will get your answers.
Chezza/Jimbo "conversation" last night was good natured right?? After reading through the thread, there were some "close to the bone"comments made, are they mates?

deefa , was being sarcatic about the jigmater. dont think all my gear together would be worth that much, cant justifie that kind of money.
troy and jimbo .no mates there deefa.
was speaking to troy last night before that thread started , he was saying jimbo is his new project, guess jimbo beat him to it.
as for the rod, all l want is something thats not going to blow up after 3 uses. will match it to my penn 8500 loaded with 65lb braid.

Don't worry Adam.
The (Hehehe) at the end of that comment was meant to put it in perspective. I'll put my 2cents worth in as you know, but when it gets all high tech I am well and truly out of my league so I watch and learn from the sidelines. I even have to go out to the shed to check the names of my rods and reels every now and then as I simply don;t remember them. (getting old). Crikey I can't even remember what pound line I have on some of my outfits, so I usually don;t comment on all that stuff.
As for the Chezza Jimbo affair the other night I was assured by Troy that it was all in good fun as I PM'd him before I got into the banter to make sure it was all Kosher.
At first I thought they knew eachother pretty well by their proximity (Safety Bay and Rockingham), but now I understand they only got caught up in the Amart discussion and progressed from there.
As I said, all good fun and no mallice intended by either party from what I was led to believe. Besides they had Big John and I there as co-commentators to make sure it was a fair fight.
Cheers

Ahh
I've just read the thread and know what you guys are on about now, for all those outa the loop there's a bit of playful banter going on between a few members on the fishing wa website. Fair bump, play on.
I'll certainly admit I'm no tackle guru either. I just like hearing from the blokes who have had personal experience with the gear in question. Its a shame that people don't post as a result of worrying about being attacked by other members on some sites.

OOOOOO,
that sounds a bit cryptic Adam, no prizes for guessing who ya referring to there.....???? (you need some smilies on this forum)
Like you guys, i gotta admit, alot of the tackle goes straight over my head too, but do like watching the banter between various guys as to whats better than what and why. Like everything in life, it seems every one has an opinion on what is better than what, when it comes to tackle, hence my comment earlier, 100 different fisho's will give ya 100 different opinions.
ahhh sorry Holth, didn't see the sarcasm, got it now though... :-)

All good
:) Did have smilies enabled for a while but it was stuffing up a heap of the coding. :( Whilst witty banter between Chezza and Jimbo might be fun to read, I'm not to keen to see it here, I'll put money down on what happens next!

I know someone who has a couple of crystal blues and he says they are good value for money. In other words, he thinks they performed better than expected for what he payed.

Nup
Nup, but as Andy and Big John were commenting, I've got a feeling theres not too much line left on the spool between those two and I'm sure it won't be long before one bust offs and snaps his rod in frustration.
Anyway, we've hijacked Holth's thread enough. Hopefully theres some more info to help him make his decision. :))

i got one!
hey paul
i've got a crystal blue heavy jig rod and i've loaded it up side by side with the berkley dropshot with ant simper from Bluewater trying to pull them outta my hands and the crystal blue felt a bit stiffer...
i've matched mine up with a spheros 14K and run 50lb with the spheros on the verge of being fully locked up... both the rod and reel handle it a dream.
it struggles a bit to really work a 470gram jig but not that you can't use 470grams.. you'll jsut notice the tip to sag a bit... but when the sambos are thick doesn't matter what you're using..
great value rod for what you pay and so far out of the cheaper jig rods around i haven't heard of one breaking yet and i've given mine heaps and it could probably go a little harder if i ran heavier line.
Here fishy fishy....

Silstar
I've had a Silstar Powertip 556SWH for 12 years, rebuilt it once, changed the tip twice, and it's still one of my favourite rods...I've hammered it on trips to the coral sea running 50lb braid over it and it's pulled some very good fish......if the crystal blue series are as bullet proof...you can't go wrong mate

HAHA
Just read all this stuff from ages ago about myself and Troy. Hilarious!!!
It was all good we had sent PM's to each other during it all just so it was clear none of it was malicious. It was all for the entertainment of others.

got one
I've got a Crystal Blue Power Tip jig rod, CB-601JSH 6',(1.8m) HVY action. Had it for 3 years and only had to change the tip guide cause of the GT knot that joins the double end(braid) to me 100lb shock leader. I have a STELLA 20 thou on it with 100lb Braid and give it as much hurt as your back and arms can take. I recommend purchasing one if you don't jig that often for the price. That's my opinion HOLT....MAXY
