Mindarie Mayhem 12 - Andy's Weekend Adventures
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Wed, 2006-10-18 12:20
After a late call last weekend I decided to jump aboard the good vessel Mack Attack. A relatively quiet morning of fishing started to heat up when we hit lump 86, Andy offered to film my small pinky which I declined and said, hang down there mate, could be more around. No more than 30 seconds later Andy was onto his fish. After a couple more drifts the customary Andy Mac dhuie was on, filmed, boated and celebrated. Hope you enjoy this video. :)

Music
By the way, the music has nothing to do with the fact I was outfished. ;)

Sports socks and blue deck shoes not a good look!
Note to self.... Never wear those socks and shoes again when there is a chance of a camera man zoomimg in on my feet.
The fashion police will be onto that one, but in my defence it was cold in the morning and my feet were freezing.
Nice couple of fish, thanks for taking the "footage" Adam.
I thought that the soundtrack had more to do with my attire than our lack of fish on the boat.(Hehehe)
Cheers

The Rig
a whiting head on the top circle hook. We caught it earlier in the day and whilst Adam was using the fillets I was using the heads.
The Dhuie snaffled a small tailor fillet (I think). Reason being that we decided to go very late in the piece and neither of us had time to get bait so we used old bits and pieces from the freezer and as we caught a few small reef fish and SB's we used them as fresh bait on snelled hooks.
The super snell I use accounted for both fish. Adam had some success with a small yellow soft plastic on the top hook of his snells as an attractor.
Gear used is an Ugly Stick and a left hand Okuma Convector with ghost cotton for line (well that's what it looks like now....time to change the line) was 20lb Tuffline from memory. Fish light and enjoy the fight, smaller fish I take time with , all our undersize fish swam off without the need for a release weight, which we had on board and ready to go if there was any doubt the fish wasn't up to it, or had any signs of barotrauma.
Cheers

Socks
Hadn't realised there was so much sock and feet footage. The lookalike dunlop volleys are pretty impressive thou Andy, well worthy of airtime. :)
The fillets were a mix of herring and salmon trout that we caught on grand final weekend. I had wanted to use a whole sand whiting as live bait but decided the fresh fillets were a better option and Andy used the heads on his circle hook. Was a bloody good day out, cheers again Andy.
As for the techno, I had thought of using a pumping song, only problem was that it went for 6 minutes and I'd have to lower the quality of the footage too much. Thought horror movie was just as catchy for this vid. :)

Nike deck shoes if you don;t mind!!!
I tell you what Adam it was a bloody big herring if it wasn;t a tailor fillet, looked a bit darker than the other fillets which had all the tell tale yellow/green dots (I'm colour blind though).
Cheers

Sockman
Would look a bit suss me saying I am too sick to work and then cruising by all the workers armed with fishing gear, think I might get found out.
I did catch a couple of small broadbar mackies today - they were in swarms but only a couple of kilos each max. Is hard to get any real fishing done up here though as its an active mine site and therefore 'rules' on top of 'rules' with a few more 'rules' thrown in for good measure. Occasionally get a bit of time though and then wet a line for a while as you have seen from the photos of Kletch.
Need my boat up here then I could have some real fun!!!

cant get it
spewing, the nazi server at work has stopped me downloading .wmv files, so i cant watch vids anymore!!
Gull - If you can get a doctor to give you sick leave because you are overworked or stressed out, then you would be allowed to go fishing. Rules were made to be bent! youd better be taking lotsa photos of up there!! fish or no fish...
