Submitted by Andy Mac on Wed, 2007-03-14 19:07
Here's one of my dad showing us how its done on a pretty big fish. Hopefully I will be capable of doing that when I'm his age.
Hope you enjoy.

Classic struggle!!
Shame the fish caught was actually a ray, so next drift he nails a big Dhuie, similar struggle but a far better photogenic fish. This time no footage but a good couple of pics so I couldn't resist putting them at the end of the vid.
Hate to dispel the grand illusion but that's what actually happened. Not every fish you call for a dhuie is a dhuie and not every fish I call for a Ray ends up being a ray....hey Shamu. (Hehehe)
A great battle all the same. The old man was huffing and puffing for just over 15 mins. I was worried about him having a heart attack.
Update on my Mum (Rod holder gouged her shin last weekend) she is in Royal Perth and just had plastic surgery to put a skin graft over the massive wound. The 24 stitches didn't knit the wound. They had to cut out a few inches of flesh too so she has a huge hole in her leg now. All that from a piece of pvc pipe used as a rod holder. At least she is feeling better now and should be out in a couple of days. Thanks to all the well wishers on an earlier thread.
So team SSS, next time you are fishing flat rock or loonies, watch where you are walking / staggering after a few bourbons, those rod holders are dangerous.
Cheers

Onya
Onya Sid, you teach that Dhuie who's boss. Just watched both the vids, great stuff, interesting techno mixups happening there. ;)

It was a Big EagleRay Adam
The Dhuie was on the next drift but I didn't have footage of it.
Sid is now a star in the over 60's club he attends. I just have to get a pic of him into FWA and he will be a very happy man.
The techno isn't my personal cup of tea but it allows for a bit of beat timing into the video editing, which I think goes down well.
That Jamendo site has some really good stuff on it.
Cheers
