Happy Good Friday all!

If you are heading South for the long weekend, expect you won’t be the only ones! Everyone is getting down to our beautiful south and there is plenty of action to be had wherever you are.
It is no secret that the salmon have just been going off in the southern region. Hamellin Bay seems to be an absolute hotspot. Fishos are getting stuck into tonnes of fish and if you are around the area this weekend, you would have to be very unlucky to not have a shot at one.
Closer to Albany, fish are also in numbers, particularly at the Salmon holes and Cable Beach, with a few also coming through Cheynes beach. Please be mindful on the road along your travels and just remember, double demerits are in place for this holiday.

Much closer to Perth, mulloway have been on the chew for a few weeks in a row now. Plenty of reports have been coming from the Mandurah region… Particularly around the San Remo area. This may be well worth a shot if you are looking for spots further south of the river.
On the northern side, beaches from Mindarie up are still producing the goods. Check out Joondalup customer Travis and his first ever mulloway, going a healthy 124cm.

Some worthwhile spots  we have been hearing reports from include around Alkimos. In the same areas, there have been great runs of chopper tailor in the late arvo and into the evening. Further north past Two Rocks, great numbers of larger tailor are being caught.

We had some serious land based action this week, with a few anglers knocking over lifetime goals. Multiple pink snapper had been caught not only of the Fremantle Moles but also Mindarie rock wall. And more noticeable, a stack of metro macks were landed land based via ballooning and lure spinning. Hot spots included Coogee, Ocean reef marina & even North Beach Jetty! A regular customer pulled 2 spaniards in off the North Beach jetty this week with the largest model going a modest 16.5kg.

Unfortunately, the weather has not been kind the last week in terms of offshore fishing, so the dolphin fish at the FADs and the bottom fish have had a quick break while anglers turned to inshore fishing the river for some fun. Crabs are reportedly in decent numbers along the brewery stretch and around the narrows, with Matilda Bay also being another good place to start. Although not the largest in size, great numbers of smaller bream are coming from the Narrows. This is definitely worth a shot if you want to head down for some fun amongst the pylons.

Last Sunday Mandurah hosted the WA Bream Classic Kayak competition, producing no shortage of fish and proving the system is back up and thriving since the fish kill last year. Some great bags were weighed in with the largest fish being just 10 grams shy of a kilo. Congratulations to Massimo for taking out 1st place with this beaut bag.

Further out from Freo, the squid have been turning it on, but only in the clearer water. Finding the clean water will be worth your while in search of your bag. Decent sized squid have been the norm as of late. If you are without a boat, land based hotspots that have been producing for our customers lately include the Woodman Point rock wall and Ammo Jetty.

Much further north, great customer Lee had a ripper trip up to Coral Bay, saying that the fish turned it on every day and they just could not miss. Lee and crew had a ball catching fish on jigs and plastics and mentioned it was just an all-round great trip.
