Hi everyone. Just wondering what fish species do you target with a 10-15KG surf rod. Also do you use it for bait fishing, lures, ballooning, live baiting, etc.

Had a look and said for
Had a look and said for small to medium sized sharks. They said load with 50lb braid. Is this correct? The rod that I have is 6-15KG. Would it handle 1-2 metre sharks?

Easy
Easy as bro, you could land a shark that size on a lesser rod and reel. A rod up to 15kg and loaded with 30lb to 50lb braid would be as much as a young fella like you could handle. Not trying to be funny but you would struggle to hold onto it if you locked the drag up. You should be able to catch almost anything Perth has to offer on that outfit. If you cant land it on that, you probaly don't want to know what it is.

Not trying to sound up
Not trying to sound up myself but I am 5'10" and 77KG. Very strong for age and about 10 inch to a foot taller than average for my age so could probably handle a reasonably big shark. But I still couldn't handle something that fit 16yr old or any 30yr old and over could handle. You would be surprised though I think.
what rigs would you use for sharks? I currently use it for live baiting off rocks now. It casts large live herring on a balloon a good distance

Isnt the whole idea of
Isnt the whole idea of ballooning that you dont have to cast it? For sharks try a paternoster rig with heavy duty crane swivel if bottom fishing or 100+lb wire under a balloon with a snelled rig and a whole fish bait (e.g. mullet)

Yeah lol the idea is not to
Yeah lol the idea is not to cast but a can cast it off the north mole into the wind just off the rocks without too much bend. The balloon does just float in the air and slow down a bit. Would you cast off any perth beach for sharks? Have heard rockingham jetty is alright for sharks
