10 Wt fly rod, which one!!!

OK, I have to face it that the GT killed the top half of my trusted old Fenwick Highlander, and after listening to some, especially Ryan, I Now realise that the bottom half is a garden stake!! Bloody sad with the beautiful cork grips etc.

What then and not Loomis as I am to rough. Looking for quality and price only a small issue. If everyone says Loomis I will get one.

Cheers

Neels

Oh and is the Okuma Magnitude a good enough reel for the Pilbarra salt flying

Penn make a nice fly rod. Quality blank and components. Not sure wether they still make them though. The one in mind is a Penn International. The other is a Strudwick. With the reel it depends on what you are going to fish for. For tuna, macks, sml billies you would want something with a disc drag and a smooth drag that can hold at least 300mtr of 30lb backing as well as a running line and your fly line. For other things like queenies, sml tuna, barra and bonefish, a smaller reel with minimal drag and less capacity would do. I would personally stay away from a graphite reel as they can and will explode. Something like a Scientific Angler is a machined alloy reel with at least a small amount of drag that is made to last that will cover most situations.
