16kg South Aussie Bluefin

After a week of wind managed to get out for the first try of 2016.
Caught one mate dropped another, hard work for them as they are in close to the coast and lots of boats competing for the bust-ups, some with no idea and just driving over the top of the schools. Dolphins also probably making them wary.

spot on - launched at Cape

spot on - launched at Cape Jervis - very rough getting towards Deep Creek (only 1 m swell but strong outgoing tide) took 40 min - bloody washing machine. then all right once well out of Backstairs Passage.

Started trolling at Tungkilla and came across the birds/dolphins off Waitpinga - only a small amount of tuna in amongst the dolphins. Had to get it right on their noses but never knew when they where going to crash through the dolphins/bait (the tuna were very sporadic).

Didn't see any one else land one - only a few radio reports - chaotic to say the least. was tempted to have words with one boat crashing the bust-ups and making them sound.

Early on saw one jump completely out of the water - would have been 50kg+

Hopefully a good season to come once they thicken up :-)
