2023 fishing trips planned ?

So what's everyone's plans for this year? Going away north/ south to fish/camp or heading overseas for a nice Europe trip? Keen to do my first trip NW this year on my own boat.

Brother just moved into Denmark from Hopetoun so keen to spend some long weekends down there starting this June and start exploring the Wilson Inlet. Planning a week down there in July hols too.

Planning Thailand for the Mrs' 40th in March and pretty keen to try land a Jurien trip with good weather minus the 10,000,000 millipedes this time in Oct school hols.

Wouldn't mind trying to get back up to Denham in June 2024 either.

Frosty my father lived in Denmark after retiring off the farm for 20years and supplied the family and his neighbors with FG fillets (miss him and the fillets), don't know what it's like now but he used to put his boat in at Poddyshot and fish on the south side on the drop off, he had a stick with a mark so he could anchor in 7 foot of water, he used two anchors bow and stern with bow facing the shore, mussels where the bait of choice.

Arriving Denham next weekend

Fri, 2023-04-21 09:40

Driving boat over to shelter bay then camping KELS2 campsite for 4 nights with wife, sis in law and bro in law they never been there before,  Ive done the trip 3 times before so I know how to plan it well. Looking forward to ticking off some fish on bro in laws bucket list as he usually only land base fishes. Already warned them how bad the sharks can be when you hook a descent fish. Cant wait to pull lures around for mackies, yellow fin, sailies , small marlin!!!   Hope weather gods are kind. Jurien will be backup plan if shelter bay to windy cheers

Denham in June

Yearly pilgrimage north for a week with a group of mates I've known for 35 years. We fish every day, but it's much more about getting away from the cut and thrust of the day to day, having a couple or ten frothies, taking the piss and having a laugh. It's good for the soul.

Nothing too crazy

Sat, 2023-04-22 06:08

Looking at exploring what's on my back doorstep, I'm fortunate that it's on 18nm from the local ramp to the Great Barrier Reef. Within a 65nm radius from here I can go north to Port Douglas, out to the shelf or down to Hinchinbrook. Just need the rain to gimme a break!.

Sun, 2023-04-23 20:02

I reckon you've possibly timed it well, hopefully the blow up there will be over. Do you want to flick me a PM and I'll send you some areas to start.

My GPS is up at the Bird but I can give you general areas to look.

Old mate on Seaforce only use the snapper winches so they lose a lot less fish to sharks. Probably one of the better charter opertors I've seen.

Sun, 2023-04-23 20:36

Still blowing its ass off up in hedland.  I'm guessing it's doing similar all the way down that way as well.

Saw the seaforce video as well. Had to stop fishing as they bagged out on reds ,most of which were a good size as well
