Submitted by Chris fish on Wed, 2016-08-10 16:42
Hey guys a long shot but chasing someone who bought a Stella 20k new model with white braid on it from cash converters clarkson in March. It was stolen during some break ins and sold before the cops got to it. It would be covered under cash converters I just want my reel back that's all and I can't get any info out of cashies.
Cheers guys.

Sorry to hear mate.Surely if
Sorry to hear mate.
Surely if you worked at Cashies and someone brought in high end fishing gear you'd do a few checks and balances first?
1. is the bloke chewing his mouth off - stolen
2. does the bloke look like a bean pole - stolen
3. does anyone bring a Stella to Cashies to sell - you bet it's stolen
Officially off the Pies bandwagon

The guy that stole it got
The guy that stole it got his brother to sell it for him as his name was black listed. He sold it alongside my X box which was still there when the cops got to it but the Stella was sold and cashies can't give me any more info on who it was sold to so I'm hoping someone knows someone who has it. It was brand new and had been used once I have its case and box and receipt still.

Cash Convertors
Gotta say, I fkn hate Cash Converters.
Nobody can tell me that they arent fully aware what goes on.
I thought there were strict rules on keeping records for that very reason?
Mick C would be able to elaborate on that, but youd have to say that someone who came in AND PAID CASH for a Stella 20000 would have an idea also what may be going on.
Just park somewhere for an hour to 2 where you can see the rear of one of these shitholes and watch who goes in and out...

Cashconverters = bottom
Cashconverters = bottom feeders, they were the first port of call when we were broken into at home. The smarmy prick working there said there's no chance of stolen gear gear being sold there. I just told him politely I'd be in there every day for the next two weeks to check, which I did just to piss him off. Gear never showed up but where we live there are heaps of hock shops in the general area. Hope you have some luck Chris, one for the good guys against scumbags.

Don't they have to store it
Don't they have to store it out the back for a month before putting it in the shop? Just enough time for everything to cool off and insurance to pay out.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Or truck it to the east
Or truck it to the east coast, which then comes back with a load from over there

Yes, hock shops need to be more accountable, they're as crook as the crooks selling them half their gear. Names when buying and names when selling, for ALL parties involved in ALL transactions. Photo ID's. That's the only way there will be any transparency in an already dodgy industry.

that sucks having such good
that sucks having such good gear stolen.
As well as knowing cash converters bought and sold stolen gear, made a profit and got away with the crime.

Sorry to hear Chris , Good
Sorry to hear Chris , Good ole cashies the mecca for desperate people to support their habit or genuine people in a bind to be arse raped .
How many can afford a stella in the first place then find themselves in a situ to have to near on give it away to cashies and then conveniently the purchaser happens to have 8 hundy in the back pocket rather than use a card with no paper trail .
I wonder what cashies paid for it , here’s another being flogged at the cannington store

Second Hand Rules
So sorry to hear about this Chris.
The rules are that anyone selling an item directly to a dealer has to provide 100 points of ID, and the shop has to hold that information. The shops are then required to upload the data on the item to the Police data base and they cannot sell the item for at least 14 days. Presumably, the Police then check the items against recently reported stolen items and if there are matches then officers can attend and impound the items and require the personal information on the original seller. Unfortunately, once the item "clears" then the shops can sell it as in any retail sale (without requiring ID from the purchaser).
Not sure what has gone on in your case. I presume you reported it stolen so it should have been on the list. I would expect that CC followed the rules as there are fairly significant penalties if you don't, including loss of licence. Does your comment "it would be covered under cash converters" mean that you will be reimbursed by them for your loss? If so, it sounds like someone hasn't followed the rules?

My interpretation of Chris' comment that ''it would be covered under cash converters'' was that if the buyer was located and the reel returned to the original owner then cash converters (being the seller of stolen goods) would refund the buyer.

The item was stolen in
The item was stolen in February sold in March to cashies then bought a few days after it was cleared. We found out who had done the crime in June and their name was referenced against cashies ect and found to have sold some of my items. The reel was already sold but my X box was recovered. Because it is now August I was told by cashies their information goes offsite to an information storage company after 3 months so I'm not longer able to trace or get any more info. I've ended up recovering about half of was was stolen in 2 seperate break ins but the Stella is the only item I can locate which I don't have. There is still also a shout jig bag with 150+ jigs and 3 extra sleeves full missing which has been sold on 2 times before I've lost track of that.
Move recovered more of my items myself than the police have and also got more clue on who and what went where than their crappy efforts but the remaining items I'm trying to chase up now as all the missing items are very distinguishable as mine and hard to sell which is why I've found so much of it as it stands out.
