250-300HP Outboard Pricing
Submitted by Darren253 on Wed, 2021-01-13 21:14
Is anyone able to share any recent pricing for 250hp or 300hp XXL pricing for outboards that they have recently aquired? I know supply is a major issue at the minute but would be interested to see where each manufacture is landing fitted in WA?
I've got pricing for Merc 250 STD in 30" at $34,700.
Merc 300 Verado is $38,900.
Does anyone have recent pricing for Suzuki or Yamaha?

Gday Darren
Been looking at this with Yamahas recently and seems to be a 3 month minimum wait across all dealers, cost is pretty consistant dealer to dealer. Chivers seem to be the best to deal with so far however they don't do an on water test unless you request it.
F250 XL was 35,300 with digital binnicle control and CL5 display (level 1 helm master) and 34,600 with 6YC and sidemount controls
F300 XL was 37,800 with digital binnicle control and CL5 display (level 1 helm master) and 37,100 with 6YC and sidemount controls
Helm master system can be added on in stages, another 9k for the digital steering, + 4k for the autopilot. The whole package helm master package with fishpoint (spot lock) with the joystick runs close to 19k. If you were going down the path of installing a minnkota with lithium batteries you might be able to somewhat justify the price, I certainly can't.
These are with stainless SDS prop, engine installed prices , they even charge for the 7L of oil required to run it.

Agree regarding Chivers. I recently had them quote a motor and they were not competitive. Even asked if there was a Fishwrecked Perk and they said no.

Mate has a 2300 with F300
What a beast. He's too law-abiding to let rip on the river up here for a top speed run, but its is doing about 23-24 knots loaded at sea at 3500rpm. Should easily top 40 knots. Personally, I'd stay away from the duoprop Suzukis, they've had a lot of problems with them in the US, if you can believe THT. You couldn't go wrong with any of the other 300's.

I dont see the need...
Even with 6 fatties and 3 cartons of beer in the reefie with a the 150hp, it take a bit longer to get on the plane but i still can't get of 75% power in perth conditions on 99% of perth boating days! I'd rather spend the $15k on other things...

yes, it needs to be glass to really use it.
Rule of thumb seems to be that you need to be at least 28ft long to use real speed across any sort of short chop. We rarely seem to get actual glass-offs on the ocean on the west coast, have never wanted more power around here. A glass-off inside Shark Bay or Exmouth Gulf is the only time I feel I could have used more. And then its the difference between 27 knots @4500 and maybe 30 @ 4500 with a 200 on those rare days. Considering a V6 200 Merc is only turning the exact same prop that was originally specced for the Reefrunner with the 150, and which will work if you keep your fitout light. Mine was not a light fit-out Likely would cost you more than 15k to go twin 200's plus the $4K transom extra cost.

Different gear ratio though,
Different gear ratio though, so prop size is not directly comparable

Caribbean posts
As a Caribbean lover I can read these posts all day, Mrs is looking at a new house, I'm thinking new power for the Reefrunner, Will be taking the boat to Gamex this year so plenty of $$ to spend to get her ready prior to an outboard upgrade. Been out in the river boat all summer Blue Bond wood with new lightweight F25, in all honesty a bit disappointed with the F25 performance, but that's for another thread, was purchased from Chivers. Fished out of a 2300 with Suzuki 325 a number of times, weapon of a rig and the drive from the duo prop is nothing like a conventional single prop. Good luck with the new rig Darren, look forward to the updates.

Ouch that’s gotta hurt.
I dread the day I have to replace the donks on my cat or my smaller boat for that matter. The extra $7200 does that include a stripper pole in your boat with the required lady power to happily operate it for a week solid?.
