2nd battery replacement or get a lithium jumpstarter.

It looks like the 2nd battery on my boat has failed and now the decision to either get a new 2nd battery or buy a lithium jumpstarter to carry.  The boat is only 5.2 metre pressed ally and  has both battheries on the starboard side making it one sided when just the skipper is aboard.  Also I go remote prospecting during the winter months so a lithium jump starter would be handy while out bush.

Has anyone removed the 2nd battery and just bought a jumper pack as an extra?.  I know a decent lithium jumper is going to be a bit more cost than abattery but it will have more uses than just sitting in the boat.

TIA.

I can't help you Oldbull but

I can't help you Oldbull but I'm looking at getting a lithium power station from iTechworld to use instead of my generator. They seem like great units and will be used to run stuff on my boat, when camping and a few other things. I have to get the biggest one so I can make my morning coffee! Worth checking them out if you haven't. Local family business I believe.

Another option is the Nomad

Another option is the Nomad PDU. nomadpdu.com.au/ Another WA locally made product. Far cheaper than iTech world, well built. You can get a 12v to AC inverter, however I note that the unit won't deliver the 1300w of power that the itech world one does to run a coffee machine. Nomad have plenty of Youtube vids about their product.

Altronics Jump Starter

Have one of these it works great, used it to start my boat (60HP Yamaha),  four wheel drive and my tractor which sit in the shed mostly,  usually a long while betweeen starts.

You get a few starts out of it before you have to recharge it.

Thanks folks.   It ended up the 2nd battery was not faulty at all.  It was the 4 way battery selector.  One of the positives had corroded off inside the switch.  Easy fix for $50 instead of $200.
