3mile monsters

after half hour of being circled by this monster, well concidering she was bigger than the 3.5m tinnie  we were on,out at the 3mile off hillaries we decided she might be hungry for a fresh tuna we caught moments before.

we hooked up and lifted anchor and within half our she towed us 3.8miles out to sea on 130lbs tuffline with 15kgdrag set. good bit of fun,and eventually snapped off when the drag was set up2 22kg. good day on the blue tho thanks to capitan damo.

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Classic , bloody things are pre programmed to scab around boats for a easy feed . Would've been good on video, seeing it pulling the boat along   big shark vs little boat .. never hooked one that big myself .. well done guys , ballsy stuff .

Tiger

Thu, 2013-03-14 11:37

I'm gonna go against the other guys and call it a Tiger. The big Tigers can loose their stripes and I'm not sure that bronzies grow bigger than 3.5m.

I had a similar one circle my boat once and even though it didn't have stripes and was coloured bronze we ended up calling it a Tiger based on the shape of it's head.

I could be wrong though.

That's a solid shark and a long way to get towed hahaha. I'm thinking it's a big dusky whaler, seen photos of some of them pushing 4m!!  Those big ones have some energy that's for sure and just never seem to get tired. Just curious how did you break 130lb line with 22kg of drag ( 50lb) that's less than half it's breaking strain?
