588 sounder and 1kw TM260
Submitted by sarge253 on Fri, 2017-04-07 06:00
Hi All,
Just brought the new 588 with the TM260. Seems the rezboost, ACCU-Fish and bottom descrimination wont work on the 1kw setting only the 526TID-HDD, does this make any difference to it's performance? Does anyone have any tips or tricks on how to set up and get the best from these units.
Cheers

Mate, the Furuno is such a great standard sounder, forget accufish and bottom discrimination, gimmicks in my opinion. Not sure about rezboost, my old 587 did not have it but it's a great sounder without all the extra stuff.
Not sure about the 588, but the 587 have the same results with 1 kW or 526 TID setting except the extra fruitwhich is not needed.

Mate, I'm pretty sure that Rezboost and bottom discrimination only works with a specific transducer and NOT with the TM260. It may also affect the ability of the ACUU fish function as well. Refer to the link for the PDF brochure from Furuno. It states that a rezboost capable transducer needs to be used. I've been through the same dilemma as yourself but after doing my research it turns out that these functions aren't supported using a Tm260 transducer.

Thanks for that info, that
Thanks for that info, that answers that question. So I will just leave the setting on the 1kw and disreguard the rezboost.

526TID-HDD
I believe that if you select 526TID-HDD from the transducer selection menu you should be able to use ALL of the 588's features. That is the bronze thru hull version of the TM260 (the B260).
