5th day on the water
Submitted by Faulkner Family on Sun, 2019-05-19 21:10
After a couple of days r&r back into the fishing side of things. The day started slow but things changed when the fish started playing ball. As usual plenty of pickers but a few nice ones came up. A couple of spanglies one of which went 3 1/2 kg a nice red from brenden that went just shy of 10kg along with a ok goldie and a few other mixed . I managed another nice rankin at 8 1/2kg and not realy much else apart from the usual tomato cod and honeycombe cod. Sandy got anothe red but a bit smaler along with the small cods. Weather wise it was good but the current was ripping. Tomorrows another day.

russ that isnt a goldband
russ that isnt a goldband mate.
Looks more like a rosy jobfish. You will find the goldband will have the gold lines acros the cheek. That fish you have is just as good on the plate however and is a great size for that species. Nice red too mate!

On the job? ( fish)
https://www.fish.wa.gov.au/Documents/occasional_publications/fop103.pdf
Along with some flame snapper etc theres around 6 jobby types in this publication, alot which are named snappers ( ie goldband snapper ) even though
there closer to jobbys than pinkies.
I calling it a rosy too, not enough yellow in the fins too be the sharptooth snapper.
Thats a good red for closer in to coral bay nowadays Russ , have you got any pearl perch or robbos mate , they are as welcome to us as any red.
Thats why I like that nor west fishing , every drops a lucky dip , and yes the cold weathers here waiting for you too return.
Thats my 1001 post done and ( red ) dusted.

quadfisher, with a sharpy
quadfisher, with a sharpy you will find they look identical in profile to a goldband but without the gold on the cheeks. The best way to tell them is the salmon type orange/pink colour under the bottom jaw.
