This picture was in todays Esperance Express newspaper and reported as "a commercial fisheraman caught this 67kg Bass groper" Now obviously the picture doesnt do it justice or the guys scales are a little bit out ( he does own the local fresh fish shop) Not sure about it though...especialy when you compare it to Ryans 52kg model. I might hunt for another pic....

Hard to Judge.
I was lucky to capture 2 of these creatures when on a charter in deep water ( 270 m ) . They are hard to judge in weight as we all found out. There were 5 caught on our trip, and we all over guessed their weights. One of the larger fish was put on known scales and went 23 kilos, much to our bemusement. Sure enough i tested those scales and they where spot on.
I have heard people say they are good eating, but take my word unless you like curry's, lasksa's etc, they are a dead fish in the water.
Great to catch, not the best on the tooth.
PS When i said lucky, they are for me a once in a lifetime catch, i won't want to Kill any more of these large predators of the deep.
Also caught and tasted ruby snapper ( fresh ) & wouldn't give you tuppence for it. Each to their own of course.

Not even close to 67 kg's imo
Might be a bunno capture. Pounds = kgs
67 pounds is a little more believable.
