7 kg Salmon

Some pics of my 10 yr old with her first salmon, and what a ripper it was. Coming in at 7 kgs after a good 10 - 15 mins battle on 10lb braid.

She ended up with 2, the other 5 kg.

Thai fish cakes tonight and the rest was smoked and eaten yesterday.

A serious fisher at work. No strain and just calm patience. Great capture.

Beat me.

Would like a $1 for every time I have seen, fished and dived on that point, the bank account would be sweet for life.
From there where the boat is situated, Hospital rock where most of the salmon schooling happens is 60 metres to the north.

I've been fishing for salmon for about 9 seasons now and only managed a fish that size just before easter. Great conditions to be fishing in as well!!

Nothing better than putting your youngun's onto quality fish.

Salmon would have to be the perfect beginners/kids sportfish. Love eating lures, visual and honest fighters, plus no nasty spikes or sharp teeth when they come on board.

7kg is one hefty salmon, would definately be worth the fight. Good on her, she did well. And cheers for the pics, looks like you lot had a ball. Heard of many people going south with reports of zilch caught, good to see many out there landing some biggens.
