Get a new Pawl, from a tackle
Get a new Pawl, from a tackle shop ...cheap ! put it in and see if everything is ok then. Or better still take it to a tackle shop, they will be able to drop it in quickly and it should be ok as long as you havent damaged the worm drive. Either way not an expensive fix.

Agree
Agree, get a pawl and put the level wind back on. But the second picture looks wrong ( did you pull this part of the reel apart ? ) Cause inside there it is quite tricky to put togeather properly . The brass bit should be centred and not loose, it is held in place by some plastic clips that can be a real pain to get back in, unless you have done it a few times.
I think you might have to put it in a shop , or get someone who knows how they work. I have a few of these reels and they a very good, and you can get all the parts for them ordered in at most tackle shops .

There are 2 springs that hold
There are 2 springs that hold the plastic clip down that the brass pinion gear sits in. They just sit on top of the plastic clip and can be very easily lost. To see if you put it back together with the springs in place you can check by making sure the reel goes into freespool and back by engaging the handle. It should "spring" back and engage the reel. They my have sprung out when you took the reel apart.

Don't repair it...
Upgrade it! There are some great after market bits for abu's. Google D&h reel repairs Brisbane.

Skip BCF
And go to Compleat Angler on Dixon road, the gents that work there are helpful and have bits for abu reels.
